The Enneagram for therapists, counselors and coaches
The Enneagram is one of the most powerful tools to enhance the therapy process that has emerged in the last 20 years. The specificity and accuracy with which it outlines the key dilemmas of each personality type can help focus and speed up the therapeutic process. It provides a fundamental basis for working with personal suffering, character structure, core adaptive strategies, transference themes, relationship issues, and spiritual and psychological development. The Enneagram points the way for individuals and couples to build upon their key strengths and to resolve their life challenges. It also provides a foundation for healing and development strategies as well as effective interventions.
The Enneagram gets right to the heart of each type’s core motivation, driving energy and organization of attention. Since the Enneagram reveals the very “molecules” upon which life is organized, it works well with virtually all forms and schools of therapy and change. It embraces all the traditions, both psychological and spiritual.
We teach in the Narrative Tradition of the Enneagram types speaking for themselves, often in panel format, as a starting point to understand the path of healing, development, and ultimately the integration of psychological life with the spiritual qualities of being. In this way, the therapist can experience directly the difficulties and strengths of each type that can then be used in the therapy session. Also, we provide the therapist and counselor with a deep self-understanding that builds the ability to work with counter-transference and better “walk the talk.” Our courses also include guided meditations, self-observation practices, movement exercises, guided interactions and small group exercises to create a powerful, living experience of oneself and others.

What therapists say
“Learning personality development through the eyes of David Daniels and Helen Palmer is being given the gift of deep insight into how temperament and attachment intertwine – both personally helpful and professionally useful in understanding our many layers of perception, emotion and habits of mind. Thank you for providing such exciting new vistas.”
Daniel Siegel, M.D., associate clinical professor of psychiatry at the UCLA Center for Culture, Brain and Development, is a world-renowned expert in Attachment Theory and co-author of Parenting from the Inside Out.
“I’ve used the Enneagram as a clinical diagnostic tool for 28 years. It’s the roadmap for both clients and therapists that reveals the core of behavioral fixation and then teaches how to characterologically and spiritually transcend that abyss. My clients have loved it and have benefited from it tremendously.”
Kathleen C. Tamm, MFT
“As a licensed clinical psychologist for 20 years, I have attended numerous workshops, classes and training throughout my career. Never have I come across an opportunity for both personal and professional growth anything like what is offered in the Enneagram Professional Training Program. Far beyond advancing my clinical skills, this program has helped me move forward as a full human being.”
Dan Simmons, Ph.D.
