“How do you relax your type structure at the point of suffering instead of going on automatic? We have brought spiritual method to this human dilemma.” – Helen Palmer
The Narrative Tradition Learning Community is for experienced students who want to continue their journey of self-development in an ongoing community of Enneagram practitioners. The Learning Community curriculum joins crucial elements of spiritual practice with psychological and somatic structure. This allows us to internally recognize and relax reactive type patterns as they arise instead of automatically acting them out. This program brings the Enneagram to life by offering facilitation and support for integrating psychology, spirituality and “felt-sense” somatic awareness.
The Learning Community is neither a workshop nor a training, but rather an ongoing community of twice-yearly gatherings for learning and support. The community itself creates the transformational field that is critical to the personal and spiritual development that occurs within our gatherings. While there is no requirement for continued attendance, it is highly encouraged that you attend at least once a year, allowing the community to deepen in practice and relationship over time.
Through panel inquiry and inner practice, the Learning Community will build or develop the competencies of:
Topic for this session: Working the Contact Boundary: Uniting Conditioned Self and Receptive States with Terry Saracino, Renée Rosario and Helen Palmer via audio
The Cycle of Transformation diagram has arisen from our work in the learning communities during the past few years as a guide to help us navigate the territory of transformation. During this meeting, we will go into more depth on each of the steps in the diagram to discover the place where difficulty or spiritual bypass occurs. Our aim is to increase our capacity to bring our individual, separate self through the portal of objective reality which is receptive.
“I’m profoundly grateful to the Bergamo Learning Community, where all parts of oneself are welcome, where challenge and passion are greeted and held, guided by the skillful, gentle power of master teachers, held by the loving kindness of a knowing community. From this space creativity, intelligence and presence emerge and deepen. The Learning Community is a gift to myself that I recommend for anyone interested in expanding their spiritual path.”

“Ever since our last Bergamo Learning Community, I have been catching my type behaviors throughout the day – noticing and pausing when I find myself going on automatic. This developing capacity is a direct result of the solid somatic base in the teachings and the teachers supporting me every inch of the way by asking the right questions and dealing with tears, fears, laughter, and sadness. I am growing and very grateful.”
Our guidelines for the Bergamo community are certification as a Narrative Enneagram Teacher or Practitioner. Exceptions will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

“I have been a member of the Bergamo Learning Community since 2002. I have found it to be an invaluable part of my personal evolution, grounding me in Enneagram studies and my own process of psychospiritual growth. It’s provided me clarity in the workplace, a deeper connection in my family life and has brought an overall aliveness to my process.”

“I would not be the teacher I am if it were not for the Bergamo Learning Community. It has completely transformed my teaching because I’m doing my personal work while I teach, trusting the unfolding that comes between me and my students and clients. I have so much more faith because I’ve learned methods to be present in the moment. The other piece that has been transformative is the extraordinarily safe container that has been created by the integrity of the teachers and the community. When I go home, the community is still with me.”
