Instincts and Subtypes, Cincinnati, OH
Nov 11 - 12
Saturday - (8:30 am registration) 9 am to 9 pm; Sunday - 9 am to 5 pm

The Enneagram is a powerful system of nine personality types – and there is more. Each type has three important variations known as “instinctual subtypes.” While everyone uses all three instincts located in the body center – self-preservation, one-to-one and social – we each have one of these as our primary survival strategy. This gives us a “subtype,” which creates a particular focus in daily life and style in relationships. Our instinctual subtype also shapes the decisions we make about major projects and
life goals.

Since the beginning of the modern Enneagram, the instinctual subtypes have been considered a vital part of our inner work and returning to our essential self. They also illuminate the important variations among people of the same personality type. From Helen Palmer’s early workshops in Berkeley to current Enneagram Narrative programs around the world, the panel method brings the nine types and 27 subtypes to life.

In this Narrative Tradition panel workshop you will learn:

  • The 27 subtype profiles along with their inherent strengths and difficulties
  • How our subtype focus leads the way in creating a sense of security, well being and purpose
  • How subtype influences our relationships at home and at work
  • How we can negotiate our subtype differences
  • How the passion or emotional habit of our type is discharged through our subtype activity in ways that may not serve us well
  • Practical ways to work with our instincts and habits, and stay on our true path

The format will consist of short presentations, panel interviews with all participants, guided practices and discussion. Some knowledge of the Enneagram is necessary.
