Skills and Practices for Working One-on-One with Clients

3½ days

ENNEAGRAM NARRATIVE PROFESSIONALS TRACK

The Enneagram for Therapists, Counselors and Coaches is designed for professionals who work one-on-one with clients to create meaningful and lasting change. The Enneagram brings unparalleled benefits to those who work with others by providing accurate descriptions of the core structures of the nine personality types, as well as type-specific understanding between psychological issues, spiritual qualities and somatic patterns.

In this powerful course, you will learn and practice how to work more effectively with all type structures. This program also focuses on understanding your own type bias and increasing your capacity for presence and receptivity.

Modeled after a groundbreaking training for therapists, counselors, coaches and guides first presented by David Daniels, Terry Saracino and Marion Gilbert in 2007, this new course integrates a broadened understanding of neurobiology, and greater somatic awareness and practice. Participants will work with the elements of felt sense and grounded presence, and explore the somatic obstacles for each of the three centers of intelligence.

 You will learn:

  • Effective life-changing strategies for each type
  • Transference and counter-transference issues
  • The Universal Growth Process, a practical model for change interweaving five components: Awareness, Acceptance, Appreciation, Action and Adherence
  • Skill-building in self-reflection, self-observation and receptive awareness
  • Methods to incorporate somatic elements into your practice
  • How the Enneagram can enhance your ability to “walk the talk”
Taught in the Narrative Tradition, this training allows participants to describe their themes, issues and processes, and learn from each other’s rich experiences. After the exploration of each type, you will participate in role-playing exercises followed by debriefing sessions.

The format will include a rich variety of panels in the Narrative Tradition, short didactics, guided interactions, somatic exercises, meditation and reflection, practice sessions and discussion.

You may enroll in this course without a commitment to complete the track.

What participants are saying about this program…

“When our wonderful Professional Practice workshop was over, I was keenly aware of the deep learning and beautiful connections that were offered.  The workshop was infused with wisdom, warmth, and laughter and so wonderful to reconnect with some folks, and meet other kindred spirits for the first time. Now that a few weeks have passed, on a deeper level, I directly experience the insight and nourishment of those few days. I embrace the flow, the intuitive impulses with great wonder, whether they are suffused with dark mysteries or the great beauty of pure light. Thank you so much for enriching my professional and personal life.”
CAROLE PERTOFSKY,
Director of Wellness and Health Promotion Services, Stanford University

“The learning and personal growth from this training exceeded my expectations. Professionally, I gained valuable insights through the panels on how professionals can make a greater impact working with each Enneagram type. Personally, I learned how to be my best self as a Coach, as well as a mother, wife, daughter, friend and community leader. I had many “aha” moments of self-awareness during the training. The most powerful take-away was the integration of somatic practices. I was truly amazed to experience first-hand the immediate results when applying body awareness techniques.”
MAE-LING TIEN, Life and Executive Coach, Singapore

“Soul nurturing!”
PATRICIA WEIJZEN PETERS, Integral Coach, Amsterdam

“Over our 3½ days together, our group covered extensive territory – from theory and concepts to anchor our learning, to direct experience of what each Enneagram character structure needs in therapy, coaching or spiritual direction. We also looked at our potential places of reactivity as practitioners. Panels in the Narrative Tradition and guided one-to-one interactions created powerful learning experiences as we explored the spiritual, psychological and somatic pathways to integration and transformation.”
MONIRAH WOMACK, Past President, Enneagram Association in the Narrative Tradition

“I attended the training for professionals hoping to learn how to better deal with my clients, and this expectation was certainly met. In addition, I received tremendous help with my own transformation. I especially gained from the constant inclusion of the head, heart and gut centers in the work we did with ourselves and others.”
Adolfo Quezada, MEd, MA, Psychotherapist

“I valued the sacred space created throughout the week. The inquiry approach of the panels and triads opened up a much deeper understanding and skill level for me in working with individual types in relation to my own type. The attention to body helped integrate the entire experience for both professional growth and personal change.”
Robin Cameron, Spiritual Director

“I experienced a profound felt sense of the power of my Self fully present to another. This program is an elegant engagement of the simplicity and depth of universal process for growth and the wisdom of the Enneagram. The unique talents and gifts of the program leaders accelerated my personal progress and enhanced my capacity to serve others.”
Marjorie Kearns Smith, Leadership Coach

“This training far exceeded my expectations. We were taught a simple yet very powerful method for helping others break through to new levels of personal understanding. Best of all, I came away with so many personal breakthroughs, which were just icing on the cake!”
